How do I apply?
Farmers seeking a scholarship should complete the scholarship application form. We will review your application for eligibility. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Who is eligible for a scholarship?
Current young and beginning farmers that own or are employed by a farm in West Virginia.
Who is not eligible for a scholarship?
Farmers who already received a scholarship in 2016 are also not eligible for a scholarship in 2017 due to limited funds.
How large are the scholarships and what do they cover?
Expenses associated with conference registration fees are covered. We will not reimburse for lodging or transportation.
How will decisions be made?
Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to eligible farmers.
What expectations are there for scholarship recipients at the conference?
All scholarship recipients are expected to attend all educational sessions on their chosen conference days.
What expectations are there for scholarship recipients after the conference?
After attending the conference, scholarship recipients will be required to:
#1 Submit at least 2 color photos of the conference and your farm
#2 Complete a short report form regarding what you learned at the conference
#3 Submit a thank you letter for our sponsors
Report, letter, and photos are due within 14 days of the end of the conference.
What happens if I receive a scholarship, but can’t attend the conference?
All scholarship recipients must give a two week notice if not able to attend the Conference. After that time frame any recipient that does not attend the conference for which they received a scholarship must return all scholarship funds immediately in the form of a check.
